I consider my self patient and easy going but i do have a low tolerance level for bad service., So enough is enough with the public transport here in Perth. The bus service is just getting worse. Transperth is the provider here and after 3 days in a row of extremely poor trips home after along day, its time for a few chosen words.
05/05/2008 04:33 PM lodged complaint via Transperth website for incident below for Route 25, Bus id 1339 outbound from the city at St Georges Tce. Below is what i included in the complaint.
“The driver of said bus was reckless and dangerous. This includes cutting off two cars that I saw, excessive speed well above inner city limit, late braking which forced people off balance. Also he failed to stop at bus stop 10136 where people were waiting and as someone was outside the door he pulled away at another stop. His actions were like he was late for a wedding. This is very unsafe and unacceptable.”
Transperth Response 7/05/2008 10:59 AM
“Thank you for your email. I have forwarded your comment onto the depot. You can expect a response within 5 working days.”
When a response is received ill update the post, lets wait and see.
06/05/08 – 04:45pm – I took another bus from the same location and the experience was much the same as above, except this time after pressing the stop button for the next bus stop the driver just kept going at full speed. I had to make my way forward and ask what is the story. The comment was, oh its noisy i did not realise. Maybe concentrating on the task at hand would be a good idea when the safety of 40 -50 people on board is at stake.
07/05/08 04:00pm – Another ride of pure joy this time down Wellington St back to East Perth. Ive said before that some people don’t know the meaning of hygiene and today was a beauty. But this time 5 individuals got on board with cans of Jim Beam and as usual started swearing and abusing other passengers. The bus driver response was as expected, sweet nothing.
Luckily my rides are no more than 10 minutes but I feel for paying passengers who pay for a service that is lacking so badly, its just not good enough. On top of that more and more of the buses are damaged internally by vandals who have scratched all over the windows or plastered their pathetic graffiti on every surface. There is no security and the right of entry on to the services is poorly controlled as is the consumption of alcohol.
Remember its your right to say I’m not happy with this type of service and complain, don’t put up with it and if you see something that deserves to be commended report that too.
14/05/2008 – Received call from Transperth in regards to complaint lodged 05/05/08. They advised that the driver had been talked to over the matter and that this should resolve the issues. I was again asked questions included in the initial complaint and follow up email.
When i stated that i felt the driver was using excessive speed well above the legal limit the response was “did you see the speedo?” well of course not as i was at the rear of the bus. Anyone with a shred of common sense who uses the bus service every day can tell when the vehicle is traveling above the speed limit and hell passing cars all the way of the journey is a good indication. Also it was stated that the bus route was not in fact 25 as indicated on the bus and that possibly explained the failure to stop at a designated bus stop and this matter may require further investigation.
Every day you see buses and trucks traveling above the speed limits just like cars do. The problem with buses doing this is that they are carrying people that expect that their safety is of the greatest concern from the operator and also the obvious dangers of a large vehicle using excessive speed should be common sense to all concerned.
So if you have any similar experiences let us know or if you feel the need to complain, just do it, because staying quiet helps nobody.
